Gaya Set for Major Road Upgrade as Four Lane Projects Open New Growth Routes
Gaya | August 10, 2026: Gaya is set for a major connectivity upgrade with several road projects planned to improve links with Bodh Gaya, Nalanda and Jharkhand. The proposed upgrades are expected to make travel easier, strengthen religious tourism and create new opportunities for local businesses and property development.
The projects include the widening of the NH-82 bypass towards Bodh Gaya, a new road along the western bank of the Falgu River and improved connectivity towards Nalanda and Palamu.

NH-82 Bypass to Become Four Lane
One of the key projects is the widening of the NH-82 bypass from Ghughritand towards Bodh Gaya.

Union minister Jitan Ram Manjhi has reportedly taken up the demand for a cut and service road near Chhakarbandha in Dumaria with Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari.
If approved, the additional access could improve connectivity for surrounding areas and make the expressway more useful for local communities.
