PMAY Urban 2nd Installment Released in Bihar, Eligible Families Get ₹1 Lakh

West Champaran | August 10, 2026: For families waiting for the next payment under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban 2.0, there is good news from Ramnagar in West Champaran. The second installment has started reaching the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries.
Under the latest disbursement, beneficiaries who have completed the required stage of house construction and fulfilled the scheme's conditions are receiving ₹1 lakh as the second installment.
₹4.77 Crore Released for the Second Installment
The Ramnagar Municipal Council has received around ₹4.77 crore under PMAY Urban 2.0 for the second installment.
Officials said the money is being transferred directly to the bank accounts of beneficiaries whose construction work has been verified and who have completed the required formalities.
Construction Progress Must Meet Scheme Norms
The second installment is not released simply on the basis of registration under the scheme.
Beneficiaries have to complete construction according to the prescribed standards, after which officials verify the progress of the house.
Geo-tagging of the construction is also mandatory for the payment to be processed.
This means beneficiaries waiting for the second installment should ensure that their construction stage and documentation are properly updated before expecting the payment.
Third Installment Will Bring Another ₹50,000
The financial assistance does not end with the second installment.
After the house reaches the required next stage, including roof slab construction, installation of the PMAY board and completion of final finishing work, eligible beneficiaries can receive the third and final installment of ₹50,000.
More Than 1,300 Beneficiaries Already Received First Installment
Ramnagar had earlier distributed the first installment of ₹1 lakh each to around 1,361 beneficiaries under PMAY Urban 2.0.
Officials said almost all eligible beneficiaries had received the first payment, apart from a few cases involving technical issues.
The authorities are also carrying out physical verification of construction work to ensure that government funds are being used according to the scheme's guidelines.
What Is PMAY Urban 2.0?
PMAY Urban 2.0 is a central government housing initiative aimed at helping eligible urban families build or obtain a pucca house.
Under the beneficiary-led construction component, eligible families can receive government assistance of up to ₹2.50 lakh, subject to the applicable scheme conditions and eligibility criteria.
Who Can Benefit From the Scheme?
The scheme primarily covers eligible families who do not already own a pucca house anywhere in the country.
Beneficiaries can fall under categories such as Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Low Income Group (LIG) and other eligible income groups, depending on the applicable PMAY-U 2.0 criteria.
For applications, documents such as Aadhaar, bank account details, income proof and land-related documents may be required.
What This Means for Beneficiaries
For families that have already started construction, the second installment can provide crucial financial support to move the house closer to completion.
However, beneficiaries should remember that subsequent payments are linked to construction progress, verification and compliance with scheme requirements. Simply receiving the first installment does not automatically guarantee the next payment.
Grihik Take
For a family building its first pucca home, ₹1 lakh can make a real difference. The release of the second installment in Ramnagar will help eligible beneficiaries take the next step toward completing their houses.
But the key takeaway is simple: complete the required construction stage, get the work properly verified and ensure geo-tagging and documentation are in place. That is what can keep the next installment moving without unnecessary delays.
