Muzaffarpur Revenue Officer Faces Salary Halt Over Land Mutation Approval

MUZAFFARPUR, August 29, 2026: The Muzaffarpur district administration has taken action against a revenue officer for approving a land mutation despite an ongoing court dispute and an objection filed on the property.

District Magistrate Kumar Gaurav ordered an immediate halt to the salary withdrawal of revenue officer Jitendra Kumar Mahto and sought an explanation within seven days.

Mutation Approved Despite Court Dispute

The case concerns 15 decimals of land in Jhaphaha Mauza, where an online objection had already been filed on the land portal. The property was also involved in a dispute pending before a competent court.

The administration has sought an explanation from the officer on why the mutation was approved despite the statutory objection and pending litigation.

Three Member Probe Panel Formed

The DM has constituted a three-member high-level committee to examine the officer's entire tenure. The committee includes the Additional Collector (Departmental Inquiry), SDO East and DCLR East.

The panel will review all mutations and other revenue-related cases approved during the officer's tenure and submit its findings to the administration.

 

Strict Action If Reply Is Unsatisfactory

The officer has been given seven days to provide a satisfactory explanation. If the response is found inadequate, further disciplinary action may follow.

The action highlights the importance of checking mutation records, ownership documents, objections and pending court cases before buying or transferring land. Approval of mutation does not remove an existing legal dispute, making proper title verification essential for property buyers.
