Greater Noida Plot Allottees Get Final Two-Year Extension to Complete Construction

Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh | September 5, 2026: The Greater Noida Authority has granted a two-year extension to residential plot allottees to complete construction and obtain the required completion certificates, giving thousands of long-delayed plots another opportunity to become developed properties.

The revised deadline has been fixed at June 30, 2028. However, the Authority has made it clear that this is being treated as the final opportunity, and allotments may be cancelled if construction and certification are not completed within the extended period.

Over 5,000 Residential Plot Allottees to Benefit

More than 5,000 allottees are expected to benefit from the latest decision. The extension is aimed at owners whose plots remain undeveloped or where construction has been completed but the required completion certificate has not yet been obtained.

Greater Noida Authority CEO Ravi Kumar NG said the decision would provide relief to allottees whose plots have remained undeveloped for many years, subject to applicable delay charges.

Earlier Deadline Was Set to Expire in June 2026

The Authority had previously extended the construction deadline in 2024, allowing allottees until June 30, 2026 to complete their buildings and obtain the necessary certificates.

With that deadline now extended again, plot owners have another two years to regularise construction and complete the required formalities.

Under newer residential plot schemes, construction and completion certification are generally required within three years of execution of the lease deed.

Old Greater Noida Sectors Have Many Undeveloped Plots

The issue is particularly visible in some of Greater Noida's older residential sectors, including Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta.

Several plots in these areas have remained vacant for years despite allotment and registration. The Authority's latest decision could bring more of these properties into active residential use if owners act within the extended period.

Vacant Plots Are Also Creating Problems for Residents

Long-unused plots have become a concern for surrounding residents. Overgrown vegetation and accumulated garbage on some vacant sites have raised concerns about insects, reptiles and general neighbourhood hygiene.

Completing construction on these plots could therefore improve not only land utilisation but also the overall upkeep and appearance of established residential sectors.

Delay Charges Will Continue to Apply

The extension does not mean that allottees receive an unconditional waiver of their obligations. The Authority has stated that the extension will be subject to the delay charges currently applicable.

Plot owners will therefore need to account for these charges while planning construction and completing the required certification process.

June 30, 2028 Is the Deadline to Watch

The Greater Noida Authority has described the latest extension as a last chance for eligible allottees. If construction is not completed and the necessary completion certificates are not obtained by June 30, 2028, the allotment could become liable for cancellation.

For plot owners, the decision provides significant additional time, but it also puts a clear deadline on properties that have remained undeveloped for years.

What This Means for Greater Noida Property Owners

The extension could accelerate construction activity in older sectors and gradually bring thousands of dormant residential plots into the city's active housing stock.

For buyers considering resale plots in these areas, it will be important to verify the allotment status, lease deed, construction compliance, applicable delay charges and completion certificate position before completing a transaction.
