Bhopal Civic Body to Shut 130 Commercial Properties in Residential Areas

BHOPAL, August 31, 2026: The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) is set to launch a fresh enforcement drive against around 130 commercial properties operating in residential areas after operators failed to comply with final notices.

The action will target hotels, restaurants, gyms, factories, godowns, pubs, bars, marriage halls and other establishments operating in areas designated for residential use.

8,264 Notices Issued

The civic body has issued around 8,264 notices over alleged commercial use of residential properties. Around 130 establishments have received final 24-hour notices after failing to rectify the violations within the initial 10-day period.

Properties continuing commercial operations after the notice period could face shutdown action.

150 BMC Personnel and Police to Assist

More than 150 BMC personnel will conduct inspections across Bhopal’s six assembly constituencies. Around 200 police personnel from 11 police stations are also expected to assist the civic teams during the enforcement drive.

The operation will cover areas including Arera Colony, Kerwa Road, Misrod, Gautam Nagar, Subhash Nagar, Danish Kunj and other identified locations.
