43 Families to Get Permanent Homes in Prayagraj Under Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana
Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh | September 25, 2026: At least 43 underprivileged families in Prayagraj’s Karchhana block are set to receive land and financial support to build permanent homes under the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana. A new housing colony is being planned on four bighas of land in Mungari village, with basic urban-style infrastructure planned for the settlement.
What Changed for Housing Beneficiaries
The District Rural Development Agency has identified the land and completed the selection of 43 beneficiaries for the proposed housing colony.
Construction will begin after the land lease process is completed. The beneficiaries primarily include families from tribal and Scheduled Caste communities, including members of the Kol tribe and Dharkar community.
Each Family to Get a 20x50-Foot Plot
Under the project, every selected family will receive a 20x50-foot land lease on which it can construct its own house.
The government will provide ₹1.2 lakh in housing assistance, released in three instalments:
- ₹40,000 in the first instalment
- ₹70,000 in the second instalment
- ₹10,000 in the final instalment
This support is intended to help families move from temporary shelters to permanent housing.
Additional ₹27,000 Support Through Employment
Eligible beneficiaries will also receive wages for 90 days of work at ₹300 per day under the relevant employment scheme.
That amounts to an additional ₹27,000 per family, taking the combined housing and employment support to ₹1.47 lakh per eligible family, based on the amounts announced for the project.
Colony Planned With Roads and Basic Amenities
The proposed settlement is being planned more like an organised residential colony rather than isolated housing units.
The planned facilities include:
- Paved access roads
- Solar streetlights
- Drainage systems
- Drinking water facilities
- Children's parks
- Open gyms
These amenities could improve access to basic services for families who currently live in temporary or makeshift shelters.
Why Permanent Housing Matters for These Families
The project could have an impact beyond simply providing a permanent structure. A formal plot and residential address can make it easier for families to access essential services and establish greater residential stability.

The immediate step is completion of the land lease process, after which construction of the housing colony can begin.
