Orient Cables Raises ₹165.6 Crore From Anchor Investors Ahead of ₹552 Crore IPO

New Delhi, India | September 25, 2026: Orient Cables (India) Ltd has raised ₹165.6 crore from anchor investors ahead of the opening of its ₹552 crore initial public offering, giving the cable and networking equipment manufacturer institutional backing before public subscription begins.

The IPO opens on September 25 and closes on September 29, with the price band fixed at ₹258–₹272 per share. The company supplies networking and cable products to sectors including telecom, broadband, data centres, renewable energy and smart-building automation, linking the offering to several infrastructure segments relevant to India's expanding built environment.

What Changed Ahead of the IPO

Orient Cables allotted 60,88,233 equity shares to 20 anchor investors at ₹272 per share, the upper end of the IPO price band.

The anchor allocation includes institutions such as:

  • Nippon India Mutual Fund
  • Goldman Sachs
  • Ashoka Whiteoak
  • Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund
  • Motilal Oswal Mutual Fund
  • Bandhan Mutual Fund
  • Edelweiss Life Insurance Company

The anchor investment was completed ahead of the public issue.

Orient Cables IPO Opens With ₹552 Crore Size

The company's IPO comprises two components:

Component                Size
Fresh issue Up to ₹320 crore
Offer for Sale Up to ₹232 crore
Total IPO ₹552 crore

The public issue will remain open from September 25 to September 29.

The company is expected to make its stock-market debut on October 5, subject to the IPO process.

Where the IPO Money Will Go

The fresh issue proceeds are primarily linked to strengthening the company's manufacturing capacity.

Orient Cables plans to use the funds for:

  • Purchase of machinery and equipment
  • Civil works at manufacturing facilities
  • Repayment or partial prepayment of certain borrowings
  • General corporate purposes

The allocation means a substantial portion of the fresh capital is intended for business expansion and manufacturing infrastructure rather than being distributed to existing shareholders.

IPO Size Cut by ₹148 Crore

The current IPO is smaller than the company's earlier proposal.

Orient Cables had initially filed preliminary papers for a ₹700 crore IPO, comprising a ₹320 crore fresh issue and a ₹380 crore OFS.

The revised issue size has fallen to ₹552 crore, a reduction of ₹148 crore.

Importantly, the entire reduction has come from the offer-for-sale component, while the fresh issue remains unchanged at ₹320 crore.

Why the Business Matters to Real Estate and Infrastructure

Orient Cables operates across networking cables, passive networking equipment and other cable solutions used in infrastructure-heavy sectors.

Its customer industries include:

  • Broadband and telecom
  • Data centres
  • Renewable energy
  • Smart-building automation

For commercial real estate, the data-centre and smart-building segments are particularly relevant because modern office, industrial and digital infrastructure increasingly depends on high-capacity connectivity and integrated building systems.

However, the IPO itself does not directly represent a real estate investment or property development project.

Three Business Segments Drive the Product Portfolio

Orient Cables divides its portfolio into three broad areas:

  1. Networking cables and solutions
  2. Speciality power and optical fibre cables and solutions
  3. Other allied products

The combination gives the company exposure to both traditional connectivity infrastructure and newer applications linked to digital and automated buildings.

What Happens Next

The IPO opens for public subscription on September 25 and closes on September 29.

The next key milestones will be the final subscription outcome, share allotment and the expected stock-market listing on October 5.

For infrastructure and real-estate watchers, the broader point is the company's exposure to connectivity-intensive segments such as data centres and smart buildings, where cable and networking infrastructure is becoming an increasingly important component of new development.
