South Korea: 35,000 Homes Go on Sale in October, 4x Last Year

More than 35,000 housing units are expected to be offered for general sale across South Korea in October, the peak of the autumn presale season, according to real estate research firm RealToday as reported by First-Class Business Newspaper. That is more than four times the figure for October last year.

The bigger picture

RealToday counts a total of 44,572 units, including rental units but excluding officetels, to be supplied nationwide in October.

Where the supply is

  • Busan: 3,487 units

  • South Chungcheong Province: 2,976

  • North Chungcheong Province: 2,663

  • South Gyeongsang Province: 1,963

  • Gwangju: 1,560

  • Daejeon: 673

  • Gangwon State: 332

  • Daegu: 314

Big projects in the capital region

  • Incheon: Gyeyang New Town Kaive Ubora, 1,110 units

  • Gyeonggi Province: Acmer Dongtan in Hwaseong (1,808 units) and Gyeonggi Gwangju Station Lotte Castle Signature Complex 2 (1,249 units)

  • Seoul: smaller projects, including Gyeonghuigung EPIT in Jongno (135 units) and Junghwa Station Raon Private Centro in Jungnang (113 units)

Why it matters

A surge in supply is a notable shift from last year, and it is concentrated in provincial cities rather than central Seoul. Presale figures show planned supply, not actual sales, and launch dates can slip.
