JAIPUR | July 23, 2026: Construction activity has officially begun on Jaipur Metro Phase 2, marking the start of one of the city's biggest urban infrastructure projects in recent years. While the Metro expansion is expected to improve daily commuting, it is also drawing attention from homebuyers, developers and property investors who are closely watching the corridor's long-term impact on surrounding neighbourhoods.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma inaugurated the piling work at the Metro depot in Sitapura, signalling the beginning of civil construction just weeks after the project's virtual foundation ceremony.


A 41-Km Corridor Connecting Key Growth Areas

The proposed Metro Phase 2 corridor will stretch nearly 41 kilometres, linking Prahladpura with Todi Mod.

Along the way, it is expected to connect several important residential, industrial and commercial destinations, including:

  • Sitapura
  • VKIA
  • Jaipur Airport
  • Tonk Road
  • SMS Hospital
  • Jaipur Railway Station
  • Ambabari
  • Vidhyadhar Nagar

The project will include both elevated and underground sections, with underground construction planned around the airport area to integrate the network efficiently.


Why the Real Estate Market Is Watching

Large Metro projects often improve accessibility between residential neighbourhoods and employment hubs. Better connectivity can make certain localities more attractive for both homebuyers and businesses over the long term.

First Construction Package Already Approved

According to officials, the first construction package worth more than ₹918 crore has already received approval.

The entire Metro Phase 2 project is estimated to cost over ₹13,037 crore, making it one of Jaipur's largest public infrastructure investments.

The state government has indicated that additional Metro expansion may also be considered in the future based on the city's growing transportation needs.
