UP Landowners Get Easier Access to Khatauni and Land Division Services With New Digital Portals
Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh | September 12, 2026: Land-related paperwork in Uttar Pradesh is set for a major digital overhaul with the Board of Revenue launching three new online services for EWS certificates, division of jointly owned land and simplified khatauni records.
The move could make property-related applications easier to track while reducing repeated visits to revenue offices. For landowners, the biggest benefit is greater visibility over applications and clearer information about ownership and plot details.
Joint Land Division Can Now Be Tracked Online
Co-owners seeking division of jointly held property under Section 116 of the Uttar Pradesh Revenue Code can now submit applications digitally.
Notices, announcements and reports from lekhpals will also be processed through the portal. GIS technology will show the geographical location of the land, while khatauni records, maps and other documents can be brought together for deciding partition cases.
This could reduce confusion over boundaries and help resolve disputes between co-owners more efficiently.
Khatauni Records Get More Detailed
The revamped khatauni is designed to make land records easier for ordinary property owners to understand. Land area will now be displayed up to six decimal places, giving greater precision for smaller plots.
Records of old orders and previous mortgage-related orders will also be organised, helping buyers and owners understand the property's ownership history before entering into transactions.
EWS Certificates Also Move Online
Eligible applicants can now apply for EWS certificates online. Applications will be digitally forwarded to the lekhpal and tehsildar for verification and disposal.
Applicants will be able to track where their application is pending, potentially reducing delays and unnecessary trips to government offices.
What It Means for UP Property Owners
The changes are particularly relevant for people dealing with joint property, inheritance, land partition, plot identification or ownership verification.
By bringing maps and revenue records into the same digital process, the state is attempting to make land ownership information easier to verify and reduce the paperwork that often contributes to property disputes.
