Meerut Property Buyers Get Fresh Opportunity As UP Housing Board Plans Plot Auction And New Housing Launch

MEERUT | June 16, 2026 Homebuyers and property investors looking for opportunities in Meerut may soon have more options to choose from. The Uttar Pradesh Housing and Development Council (Awas Evam Vikas Parishad) is set to conduct an e-auction of 53 properties later this month, while preparations are also underway to launch registrations for 63 new homes in Jagriti Vihar Extension.

The move comes at a time when demand for planned residential communities and government-backed property developments continues to attract buyers across the city.

What Is Being Offered In The Auction

According to officials, the e-auction scheduled for June 30 will include a mix of commercial, residential and institutional land parcels.

The properties identified for auction include:

  • 44 commercial plots
  • 5 residential plots
  • 4 plots reserved for schools

Several commercial plots are located in Transport Nagar and Jagriti Vihar Extension, while group housing plots have also been identified in Madhavpuram and Jagriti Vihar Extension.

For investors, the auction could provide an opportunity to acquire land in established and developing areas of Meerut through a government-backed process.

Why Buyers Should Pay Attention

Unlike many private developments, plots offered through government agencies often attract interest because of clearer planning frameworks and established layouts.

The latest auction is also significant because it comes after an increase in property rates announced by the housing authority.

This means buyers will be closely watching whether demand remains strong despite higher pricing.

New Housing Registrations Expected Soon

In addition to the auction, the housing authority is preparing to open registrations for 63 new housing units in Jagriti Vihar Extension.

The proposed inventory includes:

  • 11 semi-finished houses on 75 square metre plots
  • 52 duplex homes on 128 square metre plots

Officials said the project is currently undergoing RERA registration formalities. Once approvals are completed, registrations for homebuyers will be opened.

Why Jagriti Vihar Extension Is Drawing Attention

Jagriti Vihar Extension has emerged as one of the locations attracting interest from both end-users and investors because of planned development activity and availability of residential land.

The proposed launch of new homes, along with commercial and group housing plots in the area, could further strengthen its position within Meerut's property market.

Buyers evaluating long-term investment opportunities may keep a close watch on future announcements related to the project.

Illegal Colonies Face Action In Meerut

In a separate development, the Meerut Development Authority carried out demolition drives against two alleged illegal colonies being developed without approval.

Officials said action was taken against unauthorised developments on Pabla Road and Mawana Road, where roads, boundary walls and other structures were removed.

The action highlights the importance of verifying project approvals and legal status before purchasing land or property.

What Buyers Should Consider Before Participating

Before applying for plots or housing units, buyers should review:

  • Location advantages
  • Development status
  • RERA registration details
  • Future infrastructure plans
  • Budget and financing options

Property experts generally recommend conducting due diligence even when participating in government-backed property offerings.
