Bengaluru, August 27, 2026: Australian property developer Ingenia Communities has offered to acquire residential developer Peet for A$992.5 million ($710.93 million), aiming to strengthen its presence in Australia's housing market.

Shareholders to receive cash and securities

Under the proposed deal, Peet shareholders will receive A$0.68 in cash and 0.3367 Ingenia stapled securities for each Peet share, implying a value of A$2.12 per share. The offer represents a 17.1% premium to Peet's August 21 closing price.

Peet's board has unanimously recommended the offer, subject to a better proposal. Its largest shareholder, Scorpio Nominees, also intends to accept the deal.

Flagstone project key to the deal

A major attraction for Ingenia is Peet's Flagstone City master-planned community in southeast Queensland, covering residential, retail and commercial development.

Ingenia said a proposed joint venture would value the project at A$615 million, with a capital partner expected to acquire a 49.9% stake. However, the joint venture is still subject to due diligence and final agreements.

Grihik Takeaway: The proposed acquisition highlights continued consolidation in Australia's residential property sector, with large developers seeking bigger housing portfolios and master-planned projects despite softer property sales.
