Araria, August 26, 2026: Financial irregularities have been reported in the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) in Bihar’s Araria district, with investigations finding cases where housing assistance was allegedly provided to ineligible beneficiaries.

Multiple Family Members Received Benefits

The investigation found instances where more than one member of the same family received PMAY-G assistance, despite family members having already benefited from housing schemes.

In one case, a beneficiary received all three instalments under PMAY-G even though other members of the family had previously received housing assistance.

Benefits Received Under Two Housing Schemes

Another case involved a beneficiary who reportedly received assistance under both the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana and PMAY-G, despite rules restricting such duplication of benefits.

 

Official Asked to Explain Irregularities

Following the investigation, an explanation has been sought from the concerned Rural Housing Assistant, Mukesh Kumar Jha. He has reportedly been directed to respond within 24 hours, failing which disciplinary action could follow.
