₹20.61 Crore Aid for Himachal Construction Workers on August 15, Check Who Can Benefit and Where the Money Will Go
Shimla, August 12, 2026: For thousands of construction workers and their families in Himachal Pradesh, August 15 could bring much-needed financial relief. The Himachal Pradesh Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board is set to disburse ₹20.61 crore to 4,967 eligible beneficiaries under 14 welfare schemes.
The assistance is not limited to one type of need. A major share has been earmarked for marriage and education, while workers and families can also receive support for housing, maternity, funeral expenses and other eligible requirements.
Nearly 5,000 Workers to Receive Financial Assistance
The Welfare Board will distribute the assistance on August 15, 2026, covering 4,967 beneficiaries registered under different welfare schemes.
The Board currently has around 4.85 lakh registered construction workers, making these welfare programmes particularly important for families that depend on construction and related work for their livelihoods.
The state government said it has already distributed around ₹95 crore to construction workers and their families through various welfare schemes over the past three and a half years.
Marriage and Education Get the Biggest Share
For families struggling to manage major expenses, marriage and education assistance can provide direct financial support.
The latest allocation includes:
- ₹8.98 crore under the Marriage Assistance Scheme
- ₹7.89 crore under the Education Assistance Scheme
- ₹1.49 crore for Death and Funeral Assistance
- ₹89.77 lakh under CM/PM Awas Yojana
- ₹61 lakh for single, deserted and Divyang women
- ₹38.02 lakh under Maternity/Paternity Assistance
This means a substantial portion of the latest payout is going towards expenses that can otherwise put considerable pressure on low- and middle-income households.
Hamirpur Workers to Receive the Highest Assistance
Among districts, Hamirpur has the highest number of beneficiaries under the latest disbursement.

Why e-KYC Matters for Workers
The Board has also tightened its verification process before releasing welfare assistance.
Around 98,000 e-KYC verifications have been carried out to identify ineligible beneficiaries. According to the Board, this exercise has helped remove around 70,000 ineligible registrations.
For genuine workers, the move is important because welfare funds can be directed towards people who actually meet the eligibility requirements.
₹300 Crore Target for the Coming Year
The welfare board is now aiming to expand the reach of its schemes further.
It has set a target of disbursing around ₹300 crore during the coming year to eligible construction workers and their families.
For registered workers, this could mean greater access to financial assistance for some of the biggest household expenses, provided they meet the eligibility conditions of the respective scheme.
