Delhi’s 2.7 Lakh Construction Workers to Get 24x7 Medical Help and Up to ₹10 Lakh Family Cover
New Delhi, August 29, 2026: Delhi’s construction workers could soon get a major healthcare safety net. The Delhi government is preparing to roll out the Delhi Building Workers Health Scheme, which is expected to benefit around 2.7 lakh registered construction workers and their families by the end of 2026.
What Will Workers Get?
The proposed scheme will provide 24x7 medical assistance, free annual health check-ups, cashless hospitalisation and free OPD and IPD treatment.
Workers will also have access to mobile medical units at construction sites, helping them receive first aid and medical assistance without immediately having to travel to a hospital.
Up to ₹2 Lakh Treatment Cover for Workers
Each eligible beneficiary will receive treatment coverage of up to ₹2 lakh per financial year, while the maximum healthcare coverage for a family will be ₹10 lakh.
The coverage will include diagnostics, medicines and hospitalisation. At empanelled hospitals, beneficiaries will not have to make upfront payments for covered treatment.
Mobile Medical Vans to Visit Construction Sites
Medical vans will operate at construction sites and other designated locations for 8–10 hours a day.
Each van will have a nurse, essential medical equipment, emergency medicines and basic life-support facilities. Workers requiring further treatment can be referred to the nearest empanelled hospital.
Free Health Check-Ups and Digital Records
Workers and their spouses will receive annual health screenings, while eligible family members will be covered for OPD and IPD treatment.
The scheme will also create digital health records for beneficiaries. Test reports from annual check-ups are expected to be provided within seven working days of sample collection.
Emergency Treatment Also Covered
In rare emergencies such as construction-site accidents, workers can seek treatment at the nearest non-empanelled hospital. Such a hospital may be provisionally treated as empanelled for the limited emergency treatment period.
