Assam Gets Approval for 3.1 Lakh PMAY Homes With ₹5,000 Crore Investment

Guwahati, August 26, 2026: Assam has received approval for 3.1 lakh new homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), with an investment of around ₹5,000 crore. The approval was handed over to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during his meeting with Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

More Homes Planned for Flood-Affected Areas

The Centre has also assured additional PMAY houses for flood-affected areas of Assam, aimed at helping families rebuild their homes after recent floods. Further housing support will also be extended to tea garden areas of the state.

The housing approval is expected to provide a major boost to affordable housing in Assam, particularly for families affected by floods and those in economically weaker sections.

 

Assam Gets ₹139 Crore for Agriculture

Along with the housing approval, Assam received a ₹139 crore sanction under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana to support agricultural investment and sustainable farming.
