Real Estate Calendar: 10 Key Dates Through Early November

A busy stretch is ahead on both sides of the world. Here are the confirmed dates, and what to look for.

USA

  • Tuesday, October 13, 10 a.m. ET: NAR's September existing-home sales. In August, sales fell 2% to a 3.98 million pace

  • Thursdays (October 15, 22, 29), noon ET: Freddie Mac's weekly mortgage rate. The last reading was 7.40%

  • Tuesday, October 20: NAR's September pending home sales

  • Around October 27: the S&P Case-Shiller home price index and Census new-home sales are typically released in the final week of the month

  • October 27-28: Federal Reserve meeting. It raised rates in September

  • November 5: Zillow's October Market Report

India

  • Sunday, October 11: Navratri begins

  • Tuesday, October 20: Dussehra

  • Sunday, November 8: Diwali

  • Coming days: large developers such as Godrej Properties, Lodha and Prestige are yet to report their July-September sales updates. Several smaller listed firms have already reported

  • Early November: Mumbai's October property registration data, which will show how festive demand held up after the RBI's rate hike

What to look for

In the US, the key question is whether sales keep slipping with rates this high. In India, it is whether festive buying holds in mid-income segments after the repo rate rose to 5.50%.
