Chandigarh Makes Building Plan Approvals Fully Online for Property Owners

Chandigarh, September 2, 2026: Property owners and developers in Chandigarh can now apply for building plan approvals through a fully online system covering residential, commercial and industrial properties.

The Chandigarh administration has expanded its digital approval system to streamline the process and reduce the need for applicants to make repeated visits to government offices.

Under the Self-Certification scheme, architects registered with the Council of Architecture can submit building plans for eligible residential, commercial and industrial plots. The system is designed to speed up scrutiny and help applications move within the timelines prescribed under the Citizen Charter.

Real-Time Updates for Applicants

The online platform provides SMS and email alerts at different stages, including document scrutiny, fee assessment, technical No-Objection Certificates and final approval.

Applicants can also track the status of their applications through the digital system, making it easier for property owners to identify delays and follow the approval process.
