Mumbai Ranks 8th in Global Prime Home Price Growth

Mumbai ranked 8th globally in Knight Frank's Q2 2026 Prime Global Cities Index. Prime residential prices in the city rose 6.2% year on year and 1.7% quarter on quarter.
The comparison
Across the 46 cities Knight Frank tracks, global prime residential prices rose 2.6% in the 12 months to Q2 2026, up from 2% in the previous quarter. Mumbai's annual rise was therefore more than twice the global average.
Why it matters
It lines up with a broader trend in India of premium housing taking a bigger share of demand. Anarock data shows homes above Rs 1.5 crore made up 27% of demand in H1 2026, up from 13% in 2021, and DLF recently said it sold out The Aureva, a Rs 1,985 crore luxury retirement project in Gurugram.
The caution
The index tracks prime, high-end homes, which are a small slice of the market. It says nothing about mid-income or affordable housing, where CREDAI says supply has been constrained. Also, Knight Frank's data covers Q2, so it does not capture any effect of recent interest rate changes.
