Faridabad Set for a New Global City as Haryana Pushes Ahead With ₹1,000 Crore Plan
Faridabad, Haryana | September 1, 2026: Haryana is preparing to develop a new Global City in Faridabad, with the state government focusing on basic infrastructure such as roads, electricity and water supply. The proposed 1,000-acre development is estimated to cost around ₹1,000 crore and could create a new commercial and residential growth centre in the city.
The announcement comes as Haryana's existing Global City project in Gurugram continues to face delays and is yet to attract investors for its plots.
What Is Planned for Faridabad Global City
The proposed Faridabad Global City is being planned as a modern mixed-use urban centre with residential, commercial and social infrastructure.
The development is expected to include:
- Educational and healthcare institutions
- Shopping malls and theatres
- Luxury hotels
- Community centres and marriage halls
- A dedicated water treatment plant
- A green lake
- Namo Bharat connectivity
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has asked officials to prepare a three-month action plan for providing essential infrastructure to the project.
The government has also sought a separate plan for a proposed iconic tower in the Global City.

The project was expected to include offices, commercial towers, housing, retail, hospitals, schools, hotels, innovation zones and green spaces.
However, no plot has been sold so far, while basic connectivity and infrastructure around the 1,000-acre development remain a concern.
Infrastructure Will Decide the Real Estate Impact
The Gurugram experience highlights an important point for property investors. A large land parcel and ambitious development plans do not automatically translate into a successful real estate destination.
For Faridabad, the availability of water, electricity, roads, public transport and commercial infrastructure will be critical in determining whether the Global City can attract businesses, developers and residents.
The state has said around 80% of the physical work on the Faridabad project has been completed, with the remaining work targeted for completion by December.
