Telangana Plans One Lakh LIG Flats in Prime Hyderabad Areas With Free Registration

Hyderabad, Telangana | September 22, 2026: Telangana is planning to construct one lakh Lower Income Group (LIG) flats in the CURE area under the Indiramma housing scheme, with the government promising beneficiaries full ownership rights and sale deeds without registration charges.
The housing programme will be implemented in phases, with the first phase targeting 480 houses per constituency. The government aims to complete the initial tower projects before the Bonalu festival next year.
One Lakh LIG Flats Planned in Phases
Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said the state government intends to construct one lakh LIG flats in the CURE area and increase the number further based on the number of eligible beneficiaries.
The first phase is being rolled out across constituencies, with construction of 480 houses per constituency.
The initiative is part of the government's Indiramma housing programme for eligible lower-income households.
Prime Locations Could Change Access to Housing
The government is positioning the new apartment projects closer to existing residential areas rather than developing housing only on distant outskirts.
The minister said Indiramma Towers are being developed in prime and high-value locations, generally around 5–8 km from beneficiaries' current residential areas.
One of the latest projects is the foundation for Indiramma Towers on 2.85 acres behind Malkam Cheruvu in Raidurg, under the Serilingampally constituency.
For beneficiaries, the location could reduce the distance between affordable housing and established employment, transport and urban services.
Beneficiaries to Get Ownership Rights
The proposed ownership structure is another significant feature of the programme.
According to the housing minister, beneficiaries will receive:
- Full rights over their apartments
- An undivided land share of 17–20 square yards
- Sale deeds without registration charges
This means the programme is intended to provide beneficiaries with ownership rather than only access to subsidised accommodation.
The exact documentation and transfer conditions will be governed by the applicable government orders and allotment terms.
Transparent Lottery Planned for Beneficiary Selection
The government said beneficiary selection will be carried out through a transparent lottery system for eligible applicants.
The process is expected to include:
- Selection from eligible applications
- Public announcement of lottery results
- Opportunity for applicants to raise objections
- Finalisation of eligible beneficiaries
The government has said political interference will not be permitted in the selection process.
Construction Underway Across Constituencies
The first phase is moving ahead at several locations, with tender and agreement processes reportedly completed at a number of sites.
Ponguleti has also directed beneficiaries to regularly inspect construction and report quality-related concerns to officials.
The government intends to speed up construction while maintaining construction quality, with a target of completing the towers in time for Bonalu next year.
Separate Rules for Rural Indiramma Houses
The government has also announced changes concerning independent Indiramma houses in rural areas.
Eligible beneficiaries who have already started construction could receive special permission to continue. Funds will be released where basement work has been completed.
Meanwhile, sanctions issued to ineligible applicants who have not started construction will be cancelled, with those houses to be reallocated to eligible beneficiaries.
What Happens Next
The immediate focus will be on completing the first-phase projects and finalising beneficiaries through the proposed lottery process.
For applicants, the key points to track are eligibility verification, lottery announcements, allotment documentation, construction progress and the final terms governing ownership and sale deeds.
If the phased target is implemented, the programme could significantly expand access to ownership-based affordable housing in and around Hyderabad's higher-value urban areas.
