Over 1,000 Homebuyers to Get Possession in Gorakhpur’s Khorabar Township

Gorakhpur, June 10, 2026: The Gorakhpur Development Authority (GDA) has accelerated preparations to hand over possession of more than 1,000 flats and residential plots in the Khorabar Township project, with the first phase expected to begin in July and August.
The township, one of GDA's largest residential developments, is now entering its final stage of construction. Officials expect a significant number of allottees to receive possession within the next two months.
First Phase Nears Completion
During a recent site inspection, GDA Vice Chairman Abhinav Gopal reviewed the progress of construction and directed officials to expedite the remaining work.
Authorities have been instructed to complete pending infrastructure such as roads, drainage systems, sewer networks and electricity connections within the month to ensure timely possession.
The authority is also reviewing RERA-related formalities to avoid delays in the handover process.
More Than 2,000 Homes Under Development
The Khorabar Township project includes around 2,000 flats and 312 residential plots developed across multiple housing categories.
The project features housing options for different income groups, including EWS, LIG, MIG and Mini-MIG segments. A large portion of the units has already reached the finishing stage.
Officials said over 1,000 allottees are likely to receive possession during the first phase, while the remaining units are expected to be handed over in subsequent phases.
Infrastructure and Medicity Plan Progressing
Apart from residential development, the township also includes a Medicity component with dedicated plots for hospitals, nursing homes and diagnostic centres.
The project aims to create an integrated residential and healthcare ecosystem, adding to the long-term appeal of the township.
GDA believes the development will play an important role in supporting Gorakhpur's expanding urban infrastructure.
Full Completion Targeted by December
While Mini-MIG, LIG and several EWS blocks are nearing completion, construction work continues on a number of MIG towers.
According to officials, the remaining residential blocks are expected to be completed over the coming months, with the authority targeting full development of the township by December 2026.
Final Word
The upcoming possession phase marks a major milestone for the Khorabar Township project and brings relief to hundreds of homebuyers waiting for their homes. With construction progressing rapidly and infrastructure works nearing completion, the project is moving closer to becoming one of Gorakhpur's largest planned residential communities.
