Gurugram, August 27, 2026: Hundreds of homeowners from DLF and Old Gurugram colonies protested at the Mini Secretariat against recent demolition drives, demanding that their properties be regularised and that authorities stop what residents called unjustified bulldozer action.


Residents Demand Regularisation

During a mahapanchayat, homeowners alleged that colonies were allowed to develop over the years with administrative involvement, but residents are now facing demolition action in the name of building regulations.

They demanded that the government urgently regularise these colonies and provide a clear solution for existing homeowners.


Compounding Fee Sought Instead of Demolition

Residents argued that where construction violations have occurred, authorities should consider imposing compounding fees or penalties instead of demolishing properties.

They also pointed to existing rules such as stilt-plus-four floors and regulations governing PG operations, saying enforcement should be consistent and transparent.

 


Memorandum to Deputy Commissioner

The homeowners criticised the actions of the District Town Planner and the municipal authorities, alleging high-handedness in dealing with their grievances.

At the end of the mahapanchayat, residents decided to submit a detailed memorandum of their demands to Gurugram Deputy Commissioner Uttam Kumar.
