Gurugram DTCP Demolishes Illegal Colonies Across 14 Acres in Enforcement Drive

Gurugram, Haryana | September 28, 2026: The Haryana Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) has demolished two unauthorised colonies spread across nearly 14 acres in Sultanpur village, along with an illegal market in Alimuddinpur. The enforcement drive targeted unauthorised plotting and construction, including roads and boundary walls built to facilitate further development.

The action highlights the risks of buying plots in unapproved colonies around Gurugram, where construction without the required permissions can lead to demolition and financial losses for buyers.

Two Illegal Colonies Demolished Across 14 Acres

The DTCP enforcement team carried out the demolition drive on Friday in Sultanpur village, with assistance from Farukhnagar police.

Officials demolished 30 demarcation and plinth-level structures, along with nearly 600 metres of boundary walls across the unauthorised colonies. The action was aimed at stopping further plotting and construction in the area.

The department said the colonies had been developed without the necessary approvals, making them subject to enforcement action.

400 Metres of Internal Roads Removed

The enforcement team also demolished an interlocking road network measuring approximately 400 metres inside the unauthorised colonies.

According to officials, such infrastructure was being laid to support further development and plotting. Removing the roads and boundary walls was intended to prevent the colonies from expanding and discourage further construction.

An unauthorised under-construction farmhouse in Sultanpur was also demolished during the drive.

Illegal Market Demolished in Alimuddinpur

The enforcement action was extended to the revenue estate of Alimuddinpur village, where officials demolished illegal commercial structures at an unauthorised market near Birhera Mor.

The department warned that construction and development without the required approvals could invite enforcement action. The demolition forms part of continuing efforts to curb unauthorised development in the Gurugram region.

DTCP Warns Against Unauthorised Plotting

District Town Planner (Enforcement) Amit Madholia said action against unauthorised colonies and illegal construction would continue.

Officials said the department was monitoring areas where unauthorised plotting and construction activities were taking place. The latest operation was intended to prevent further development in locations where the required permissions had not been obtained.

What the Demolition Means for Property Buyers

The action highlights the risks associated with purchasing plots in unauthorised colonies. Roads, boundary walls and other visible infrastructure do not necessarily mean a colony has received the necessary development approvals.

Buyers considering land in the outskirts of Gurugram should verify the project's licence, land-use status and relevant approvals with the authorities before making payments. They should also check the property's ownership and applicable development restrictions.

For existing plot owners in affected areas, the demolition underscores the importance of confirming the legal status of their land and any construction on it.

What Happens Next

The DTCP has indicated that enforcement against unauthorised colonies and illegal construction will continue. Authorities are keeping watch on areas where unapproved plotting and development are reported.

Further action may follow where violations are identified. For buyers and landowners, the key concern remains whether a property has the necessary approvals and complies with the applicable planning regulations.
