Ranchi Plans 100-Acre IT Park With 75,000 Job Target as RMZ Explores Investment

Ranchi | September 29, 2026: Ranchi could emerge as a new destination for technology companies and commercial real estate investment, with Jharkhand exploring a proposed IT park in partnership with RMZ Infrastructure. The project, targeted for launch by 2029, aims to create around 20,000 jobs in its first phase, with employment capacity expected to expand to 75,000 over the following three years.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren discussed the proposal with RMZ Infrastructure President Deepak Chhabria. The talks covered the IT park, Global Capability Centres (GCCs) and potential investments in emerging technology sectors.
For Ranchi’s property market, the proposal could create opportunities for office space, supporting infrastructure and related commercial services. However, the project remains at the planning stage.
100 Acres Under Consideration for Ranchi IT Park
The state government is considering around 100 acres of land near IIM Ranchi, the new Assembly complex and the Jharkhand High Court complex for the proposed IT park.
The development is envisioned as a modern technology hub with office spaces and advanced digital infrastructure designed to attract global technology companies and institutions.
The final site, project structure and implementation details are yet to be confirmed.
IT Park Targets 20,000 Jobs in First Phase
The proposed project aims to generate approximately 20,000 employment opportunities in its first phase. The target is to expand the employment capacity to nearly 75,000 over the following three years.
The state government expects the project to create opportunities in technology and other high-skilled sectors. Actual job creation will depend on the development of the park, companies setting up operations and the pace of investment.
RMZ Discussions Cover GCCs and Emerging Technologies
The meeting between Soren and Chhabria also covered the possibility of establishing Global Capability Centres in Jharkhand.
GCCs allow multinational companies to operate specialised business and technology functions from a dedicated centre. The proposed initiative could attract companies working in IT, artificial intelligence, semiconductors and other technology-driven sectors.
Discussions also covered potential investment in manufacturing, nuclear energy and digital infrastructure. RMZ expressed interest in exploring opportunities in the state.
How the Project Could Affect Ranchi’s Commercial Property Market
A technology park of this scale could generate demand for office space and supporting commercial infrastructure if companies establish operations in Ranchi.
Potential opportunities could extend to commercial leasing, business services and facilities supporting employees. However, the scale of any property-market impact will depend on actual investment, tenant commitments and project execution.
For property owners and investors, the proposed location and eventual development plan will be important factors to monitor. The current announcement does not confirm office leasing demand or future property-price growth.
Government Plans Bengaluru Visit to Study IT Parks
A delegation from Jharkhand’s Information Technology and e-Governance Department is expected to visit Bengaluru to study established IT parks, GCCs and investment models.
The delegation will examine technology infrastructure, investment arrangements and facilities available to companies. The findings are expected to help the government prepare an action plan for Ranchi’s proposed IT park and the wider technology ecosystem.
What Happens Next for the Proposed IT Park
The discussions with RMZ mark an early step towards developing the project. The government will need to progress on site selection, project planning, investment arrangements and infrastructure before the proposal can move towards implementation.
The 2029 target and employment figures provide an indication of the state’s ambition, but the project’s commercial real estate impact will become clearer as land, investment and development details emerge.
For Ranchi, the proposed IT park could become a significant addition to its commercial infrastructure if the plans translate into actual development and company commitments.
