Ranchi Intensifies Action Against Illegal Structures on Water Bodies

Ranchi, June 10, 2026: The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has intensified its crackdown on encroachments affecting water bodies and drainage channels, launching demolition drives and surveys across multiple parts of the city.

The civic body's latest action targeted illegal constructions at Bandhgari, where enforcement teams demolished five structures built on government land and over drainage channels that were obstructing the natural flow of water.

Demolition Drive Targets Encroachments

Officials said the illegal structures had narrowed drainage paths and occupied public land, increasing the risk of waterlogging during the monsoon season.

Following the demolition, civic teams restored the affected drainage channels to improve water flow and reduce flood risks in the area.
