UltraTech Cement Profit Jumps 21% to ₹1,501 Crore as Cement Demand Strengthens

New Delhi | October 20, 2026: UltraTech Cement reported a strong performance for the September quarter, with consolidated net profit rising 21.27% to ₹1,501.38 crore from ₹1,237.98 crore a year earlier. Higher cement volumes, cost optimisation and stronger sales of premium products helped the company improve profitability despite monsoon-related disruptions and continuing geopolitical uncertainty in West Asia.
The company’s performance also points to continued construction and infrastructure activity, making cement demand an important indicator for India’s broader real estate and development sector.
Revenue Climbs Nearly 19% in Q2 FY27
UltraTech’s revenue from operations increased 18.81% to ₹23,295.07 crore in the September quarter, compared with ₹19,606.93 crore in the same period last year.
Total income, including other income, stood at ₹23,405.96 crore, marking an 18.44% increase year-on-year.
Total expenses also rose during the quarter, reaching ₹21,338.88 crore, up 18.44% from the previous year.
Domestic Cement Volumes Rise 13.8%
The company’s domestic grey cement business recorded a significant increase in sales volumes.
Domestic grey cement sales rose 13.8% to 35.94 million tonnes, compared with 31.58 million tonnes in Q2 FY26. Domestic white cement sales also increased 2.6% to 0.52 million tonnes.
Overall consolidated sales volume grew 12.9% to 38.22 million tonnes during the quarter.
Capacity Utilisation Improves
UltraTech’s capacity utilisation increased to 71% in Q2 FY27 from 66% in the corresponding quarter last year.
The improvement indicates that the company was able to utilise more of its production capacity as cement volumes strengthened.
Sales realisation also increased by around 2% during the quarter, providing additional support to the company's financial performance.
Premium Products and Cost Control Support Growth
UltraTech attributed its performance to several operational factors, including disciplined execution, a wider market footprint and cost optimisation.
The company has also increased its focus on premium cement products, which can support margins by improving the overall product mix.
These measures helped the company deliver higher profitability even as the quarter faced seasonal pressure from the monsoon.
What It Means for Real Estate and Construction
Cement demand is closely linked to residential construction, commercial development and infrastructure activity.
The increase in UltraTech’s domestic sales volumes suggests that demand from construction-related segments remained resilient during the quarter. For developers, contractors and homebuyers, cement prices and availability remain important components of overall construction costs.
A sustained increase in construction activity could also support project launches and execution across housing and infrastructure markets.
What Happens Next
UltraTech's September-quarter performance highlights the continuing strength of India's construction ecosystem despite seasonal and geopolitical challenges.
With domestic cement volumes rising and capacity utilisation improving, the company enters the second half of FY27 from a stronger operating position.
For the real estate sector, the bigger question will be whether this momentum in cement demand continues through the remaining financial year, particularly as infrastructure spending, housing construction and new property projects drive demand for building materials.
