Orient Cables Sets ₹552 Crore IPO as Demand From Data Centres and Smart Buildings Grows

New Delhi | September 23, 2026: Orient Cables (India) Ltd is set to launch its ₹552 crore initial public offering (IPO) on September 25, with the company planning to use part of the fresh capital to expand manufacturing capacity and repay borrowings.
The IPO will remain open until September 29, while the company's shares are expected to make their market debut on October 5. Its business exposure to data centres, telecom, renewable energy and smart building automation also connects the offering with India's expanding digital and physical infrastructure ecosystem.
₹552 Crore IPO Opens on September 25
Orient Cables has fixed an IPO price band of ₹258 to ₹272 per share.
The issue will comprise:
-
₹320 crore fresh equity issue
-
₹232 crore Offer for Sale
-
₹552 crore total IPO size
The revised offering is smaller than the ₹700 crore issue proposed in the company's earlier preliminary filings.
Offer for Sale Cut by ₹148 Crore
Orient Cables had previously proposed an IPO of ₹700 crore, consisting of a ₹320 crore fresh issue and a ₹380 crore Offer for Sale.
The revised issue size has fallen by ₹148 crore, with the entire reduction coming from the OFS component.
The fresh issue remains unchanged at ₹320 crore.
Where the Fresh IPO Money Will Go
The company plans to deploy proceeds from the fresh issue towards capital expenditure and debt reduction.
The planned uses include:
-
Purchase of machinery
-
Equipment for manufacturing facilities
-
Civil works at manufacturing plants
-
Repayment or partial prepayment of borrowings
-
General corporate purposes
The manufacturing investments could increase Orient Cables' production capabilities as demand develops across its target infrastructure sectors.
Business Linked to Data Centres and Smart Buildings
Orient Cables manufactures networking cables and passive networking equipment for industries including broadband, telecom, data centres, renewable energy and smart building automation.
Its products are broadly divided into three categories:
-
Networking cables and solutions
-
Specialty power and optical fibre cables and solutions
-
Other allied products
The company's exposure to data centres and smart building infrastructure gives the business a connection to India's growing demand for digitally enabled commercial and industrial facilities.
What It Means for Infrastructure-Linked Real Estate
While the IPO itself is a capital-market transaction, Orient Cables' target sectors are closely linked to commercial and industrial infrastructure.
Data centres, telecom networks, renewable-energy installations and smart buildings require specialised cabling and networking systems.
For the real estate sector, the expansion of these infrastructure segments can influence the development and operation of technology-intensive commercial properties.
