No Fire NOC? Buildings in Ranchi Face Sealing as Major Fire Safety Crackdown Begins

RANCHI | June 26, 2026: Property owners in Ranchi have been given just seven days to obtain mandatory Fire No Objection Certificates (Fire NOCs), with authorities warning that non-compliant buildings could face sealing as fire safety enforcement intensifies.

The action follows recent concerns over building safety and reflects a wider push by local administrations to improve emergency preparedness in commercial and public-use properties.

Seven-Day Deadline for Fire Compliance

The Ranchi Municipal Corporation has directed buildings covered under fire safety regulations to secure the required Fire NOC within the prescribed timeline.

Authorities warned that properties failing to comply could face legal action, including sealing, under the applicable building and municipal rules.

Bokaro Launches Safety Audit

At the same time, Bokaro district has ordered a comprehensive fire safety audit covering coaching centres, hostels, hotels, guest houses and other establishments.

Inspection teams will verify emergency exits, fire protection systems, electrical safety and occupancy limits to identify potential risks.

Why Authorities Are Tightening Rules

Officials believe that regular inspections and strict compliance can reduce fire risks, improve emergency response and enhance public safety in buildings that witness high daily footfall.

The latest drive also focuses on ensuring that commercial establishments meet prescribed fire safety standards before operating.

Why This Matters

Fire safety compliance is becoming an increasingly important part of urban property management across India. Building owners, institutions and commercial establishments may now face stricter scrutiny as authorities step up inspections to minimise risks and improve public safety.
